Another Generation Question

Post by Vernos on Mon Dec 22, 2008 10:02 am

I am also wondering... are attack and special attacked judged to moves similarly to diamond and pearl?

Ex. Razor Leaf is Attack
Ex. Solarbeam is Special Attack

Okay, Rephrased.. I lost you here.
Its Gen 3 so they aren't the same as Dia/Pearl seeing that is Gen 4.
But if your asking that if they are classified as Attack or Special Attack then yes, I believe they are. That's one of the reason if you click a pokemon, you can see its Stats on Speed/Defense/Special Defense/Hp/etc..

It works differently in gen3 and gen4 though.
In gen3, whether a move's damage is based on atk or sp.atk depends on the type; fire, grass, water and many others all use sp.atk, normal, fight, maybe rock and a couple others all use atk.
In gen4, it's determined for each move individually, so flamethrower is still sp.atk based, but fire punch is now atk based.
I believe that Vernos is asking which of these two systems are used?

In this game its based on the type of attack. Since everything is limited to gen 3. Gen 4 will never be part of citrine because when citrine started out the goal was to include gen 3, there wasn't any information on gen 4 back then. Also when I got hold of gen 4 info i already coded so many attacks and such that it was a hell lot of work to turn it around.

Both gens are the same, it's just some attacks were changed to special and visa-versa.

Like Hidden Power was originally att based now it's special.

I tried looking up on serebii.net which types used which stats, and found this list but not sure if it's accurate, does this match what citrine uses?

For Attack:
Normal, Fighting, Bug, Rock, Ground, Flying, Steel, Poison, Ghost.

For Special Attack:
Psychic, Fire, Electric, Water, Ice, Dark, Dragon, Grass.
