Thoughts about the Whipe.

Post by Baralai15 on Mon Oct 12, 2009 2:37 am

Well this is just a topic of peoples thoughts and opinions and just a general discussion of the probable whipe of our accounts. Well what do you all think. I, myself, think that it will be a pretty good move so everyone can start off fresh with all the updates and fixes so we have a chance to redeem all of our mistakes we made and and to take things a little bit slower since we know whats ahead and what we should be prepared for.

Well, I don't see any reason not to want it. A lot of people when a structured system gets fixed, can get hurt by it if they were too far up, plus, it'd just be more fun to start over and try a few new things.

Exactly i think it would motivate me more to play to start over. I want to catch every pokemon in the area before i move on to the next.

My plan is a more precise EVing this time around, and a breeding regiment that is already predetermined as what I want.

By the way, you can now, hardly anyone seems to have noticed, limit breeding.
Once you deposit a Pokemon on the daycare it will ask you about the lvl limit.
You can remove the limit all together or set a limit.
If this limit is lower or equal to the Pokemon's level it wont gain exp.
Otherwise it will gain exp untill the desired lvl.
Meenwhile breeding is still possible, so you can breed two Pokemon without having to worry obout having to pay lots of money.

Well that pretty much proves it Fint, a wipe is in large support among prominent player base.

So the handful of people who post on the forum support it, but i think there is still a decent amount of people who don't support it(though they might not visit the forum that much they did help test the game when it was hosted). If a wipe is necessary then it can't be avoided. but if one isn't necessary and there is a way to do what you need to do without wiping i think you should go with that.

I think i remember asking Fint, before the game went down, If there was any point in continuing to train when EV wasn't calculating correctly. And said something a long the lines that it would be fixed so you could keep on training.

If the fix was going to require a wipe then there was no point on still training my pokemon waiting for this fix to take place when we would just have to start all over

Edit: I really wouldn't mind a wipe, and i understand how things are changing and that this is still in beta so wipes are unavoidable i guess even for the best of coders. Its just annoying to have put in as much on my pokemon as i have training EVs just to have to do it all over again. Without anything of the things from the actual game to lessen the burden of EV training.

Well, think of it this way. If it is wiped, you can better prepare and EV train then before, and make yourself stronger and better in the long run. The problem I see right now with the game nearly requires a player wipe, the new system had bigger adverse effects on the player base then could of been anticipated, and so a player wipe is really the only way to fix that.

So, yes, while many of us want one, we also understand the neccessity of it.

What if we remove the EV's of all Pokemon instead of removing all the Pokemon aswell?

the how would our level 30 pokemon be able to level up? Maybe a possible level cap raise?

Doing that would of course allow us to start our EV training again, but yes, like Bara said, we would then have to be able to raise levels again and you'd have to raise the cap by at least 10 levels for a good EV opportunity. Also, it'd be easier just to P-Wipe anyway, it'd allow people to start over and be less of a hassle in my opinion, that way the cap can still be 30.

I agree, and maybe in this update possibly raise the cap to level 36 so there s wider variety of pokemon we can use? We could actually make our starters useful at the end. If not thats ok, im not expecting you to anyways.

I agree that a P-wipe would probably be the best thing to do. (Plus raising the level cap to 36 would be awesome too!)

That's just for third evolutions, I don't agree with that. I believe it should remain 30 until such a time as a release of another area where the cap can be raised.

I though you did? You get all the EV points and when you level up thats when you actually gain them?
